Fried Fish and Family Fun Friday April 22
Fried fish and a variety of blues-rock music from the Buddy Whittington Band will flow all evening, 5-8 pm, at the 9th annual Cleburne Rotary Club Fish Fry Friday, April 22 at the Cleburne Conference Center.
For some, the Lone Star Reptile display is the reason to attend. Earl Jones, owner, and his crew will be adding a big tortoise and more large snakes to the collection of reptiles that will be on display. Guest can interact with the with the reptiles and learn about caring for them.
Spike and several Cleburne Railroader players be there to spread the word about being the number one independent professional baseball team in Texas. Plus, members of the Cleburne High School Interact Club will be painting faces.
A Shelter box, which provides emergency shelter and items necessary for a family who has lost their home, will be on display. Rotary Clubs around the world donate to purchase these boxes.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for kids over 3, and are available at the Cleburne Chamber of Commerce, from Cleburne Rotary members, and at the door on Friday April 12 at the Cleburne Conference Center.
Mayor Scott Cain is offering a one-day fishing trip for 2 on Lake Whitney as a raffle prize for the Fish Fry. He will be the guide and provide the boat, gear, and lunch. Tickets are $5. each.
If you win, you’ll enjoy cruising on the lake in a 2020 skeeter 225, looking for striper, largemouth bass, or sand bass, depending on the time of year.
There is also a raffle for a $2,000 Amazon gift card (tickets are $20 each). The Ladies Package raffle includes a SkinPen micro needling treatment, and an Inner Beauty IV treatment from McKenzie Family Medicine & MedSpa in Burleson, a POLA Light tooth whitening kit from Adam Bond DDS, and an Amani Spa gift card provided by Angela Goulding – Keller Williams (tickets are $5. Each). Profits from the event and the raffles go toward local projects.

Dinosaurs — or at least their bones — were roaming the halls of the Cleburne Conference Center on Thursday.
Southwestern Adventist University biological sciences professor Arthur “Art” Chadwick spoke to Cleburne Rotary Club members about the university’s dinosaur museum and how they use 21st century technology and innovation to research dinosaur bones during its weekly luncheon.
“We never turn away an animal in need.”
That’s what Peggy Brown, community outreach coordinator for the Humane Society of North Texas, told members of the Cleburne Rotary Club on Thursday at the Cleburne Conference Center.
Founded in 1905, the HSNT is the oldest animal welfare organization in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
Dr. Tony Torres was awarded the prestigious Service Above Self Award for 2016. Tony was recognized for his relief work that he leads for Rotary.
