The Cleburne Rotary club supports the youth in our community in a variety of ways. The RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards)  is an intense leadership camp experience organized by Rotary clubs and districts, where young people can develop leadership skills while having fun and making connections. Our club provided the opportunity for 3 high school kids to attend this year in Stephenville.  Several of our members provided transportation and the club paid for the camp. They learn the 4 Way Test and have lots of activities. Clint Ishmael and Melissa Dansby from our club have been involved in RYLA for our Rotary district for several years.
Fried Fish and Family Fun Friday April 22
Fried fish and a variety of blues-rock music from the Buddy Whittington Band will flow all evening, 5-8 pm, at the 9th annual Cleburne Rotary Club Fish Fry Friday, April 22 at the Cleburne Conference Center.
For some, the Lone Star Reptile display is the reason to attend. Earl Jones, owner, and his crew will be adding a big tortoise and more large snakes to the collection of reptiles that will be on display.  Guest can interact with the with the reptiles and learn about caring for them.
Spike and several Cleburne Railroader players be there to spread the word about being the number one independent professional baseball team in Texas.   Plus, members of the Cleburne High School Interact Club will be painting faces.
A Shelter box, which provides emergency shelter and items necessary for a family who has lost their home, will be on display.  Rotary Clubs around the world donate to purchase these boxes.
If you would like to donate blood at the Carter BloodCare Bus, they will be set up on the parking lot by 4 pm and take reservations until 7:45 pm.  Make an appointment here, https://ww3.greatpartners.org/donor/schedules/drive_schedule/131480.
Without these sponsors we would not be able to serve Cleburne with needed projects and support others; Taylor Insurance, Chisholm Trail Outdoor Museum, SACHEM, Mustang Foundation, Alyssa Dotson-Edward Jones, and Technical Chemical Company, plus Childress & Shanklin, Grandview Bank, Pinnacle Bank, Jeff England Motor Company, Gillian, Wharram & Co., P.C., Bob’s Auto Supply-4M Auto Parts Warehouse, and Victory Investments.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for kids over 3, and are available at the Cleburne Chamber of Commerce, from Cleburne Rotary members, and at the door on Friday April 12 at the Cleburne Conference Center.
Mayor Scott Cain is offering a one-day fishing trip for 2 on Lake Whitney as a raffle prize for the Fish Fry.  He will be the guide and provide the boat, gear, and lunch. Tickets are $5. each.
If you win, you’ll enjoy cruising on the lake in a 2020 skeeter 225, looking for striper, largemouth bass, or sand bass, depending on the time of year.
There is also a raffle for a $2,000 Amazon gift card (tickets are $20 each).  The Ladies Package raffle includes a SkinPen micro needling treatment, and an Inner Beauty IV treatment from McKenzie Family Medicine & MedSpa in Burleson, a POLA Light tooth whitening kit from Adam Bond DDS, and an Amani Spa gift card provided by Angela Goulding – Keller Williams (tickets are $5. Each). Profits from the event and the raffles go toward local projects.
The Cleburne Rotary Club was proud to receive the Texas Association of School Board's Business Recognition Award this past Monday from CISD for contributing to the success of our students, teachers, and schools!

Dinosaurs — or at least their bones — were roaming the halls of the Cleburne Conference Center on Thursday.

Southwestern Adventist University biological sciences professor Arthur “Art” Chadwick spoke to Cleburne Rotary Club members about the university’s dinosaur museum and how they use 21st century technology and innovation to research dinosaur bones during its weekly luncheon.

Dr. Tony Torres was awarded the prestigious Service Above Self Award for 2016.  Tony was recognized for his relief work that he leads for Rotary.
